So, SEO or PPC?



Have you tried and searched for something on Google today? Perhaps you have used Google to find the best restaurant in city, order a new shirt online, or to answer a question concerning your child’s school. Whichever way, Google processed about 3.5 billion searches every day, and that is about 40,000 searches per second. So, as a business owner, you might have asked yourself, how in the world are you supposed to get Google or other search engines to notice your business exists and you above your bigger competitors? There are two ways to this: through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC). You can pay for traffic from Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and others or build free traffic by achieving high rankings in the natural search results. So, which one should your business use?


The first thing you should note is that SEO is not all about optimising your website and content to rank higher in the search result, but making sure your website is an authority site that can provide a solution to the problem at hand. The major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines study how your visitors interact with your website, if they come back, or if you have other site redirected to your site and many other factors.

PPC, on the other hand, is all about paying for traffic for specific targeted keywords, but to be frank, PPC is a great deal of search engine optimisation than its counterpart when creating a paid ad campaign. However, just as we stated earlier on, the two main differences between SEO vs. PPC are how traffic is obtained and the second is where listings appear on the search results.


• Organic Traffic


This is an organic way of ranking on search engines, and the best part is that in most cases it does not require money – it’s free. Note that in most cases you might need to purchase some premium software’s and it does require time and patience.


• Paid Traffic


Pay Per Click or PPC, on the other hand, gives an instant result. You will start seeing your website on the top of Google search result once you begin running advertisements on Google. The only thing is that it is not free.


So, it all depends on how fast you want the result, but whichever one you choose, make sure you include search engine optimisation in your long-term web marketing strategy. SEO brings you better quality traffic leads, it might be slow, but it sure will. Many users have even trained themselves not to click on ads when searching on Google or just browsing the web normally. Ranking high on search result without ads, send a signal to users that your business is an essential player in your industry. But just as we have stated earlier, SEO might seem like it's free, but it is not, you will still have to pay the price, whether your own time or hiring someone to do the job for you at a cost.
